Ministries and Outreach Programs

     The congregation at 1st Presbyterian has outreach ministries that encompass church members, visitors, family, friends and members of the Windom community who may benefit from a special visit, note, phone call, assistance, need advice or guidance, or just want someone to listen.

Prayer Shawl Ministry:  a ministry of knitting, crocheting and praying

The shawl envelopes the recipient in warmth and prayers from the community of First Presbyterian Church.  As the craftsperson creates the shawl, a prayer of healing and blessing is prayed so that the prayer is literally woven into the yarn.  When the shawl is given, a card accompanies it that assures the recipient that he or she will be "surrounded with love and prayers from First Presbyterian Church".

Deacon's Ministry

The church is a caring community in which we learn of God's love and mercy through prayer, Scripture, fellowship and acts of compassion with those who are shut-in and those who are shut-out; with those who are bereaved or anxious; with those who are lonely or without hope.  The Deacon's Ministry is an outreach of Christian care giving by which God works all things together for good.

Our Work in the World

Our witness to the redeeming power of Jesus Christ does not stop at the doors of our church building.  You will find us volunteering our time and resources in a variety of community activities and charities including:
